Yong Kay Moua arrived in Eau Claire with his wife, Houa Vue Moua, and their two children in 1976. The Mouas moved to St. Paul in 2010s. Both Yong Kay and Houa were very involved in the Eau Claire community and shared their experiences with Chippewa Valley Museum in multiple interviews. In 1992, Yong Kay spoke about his life in Laos, the Secret War, and resettling in Eau Claire. In 2011 he discusses his work as a community liaison with the police department and shifts in Hmong-American cultural practices among different generations including foodways, language, and religion.
