Collecting the Valley: Growing Up in the 1950s

December 21st, 2021 | 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm | Online - Zoom | Location: Wisconsin

Many people view the fifties as a time of stability and domestic tranquility, but things were far from calm in that decade. Although affluence was growing after WWII, the Cold War instilled a lot of fear in the American people. Many people felt their lives were too restricted, prompting the growth of a new rebellious culture that would dominate the sixties. Reflect on what it was like to live in the Chippewa Valley in the 1950s, illustrated by the photos and artifacts held in the museum’s collections by museum curator Diana Peterson. Paid registration and an internet connection are required for participation.
