The Chippewa Valley Museum has the largest collection of local photographs in the region. Most of these images can be reproduced, and most of the images have already been digitized and are available for review in our Glenn Curtis Smoot Library and Archive. To schedule an appointment to review photographs, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Appointments will be scheduled between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm Tuesday through Friday, depending on staff availability.
Historical Images on L.E.Phillips Public Library website
The L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire hosts a small sample of the CVM photograph collection on its website. This sample represents about 8% of what is available at CVM. Most of the images on the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library website depict life around Eau Claire, but CVM does have images from throughout the Chippewa Valley. Image Reproduction and Use Fees
Image reproductions are available in both electronic and print format. Use fees help to offset expenses associated with preserving historic collections. Use of photographs for personal or educational purposes is free. There is a fee for commercial use. To review reproduction and use fees, see the Image Reproduction Price List.
Reproduction of photographs and other images is done by CVM staff upon written order. Most historical photographs found on the L.E.Phillips Public Library website can be ordered. You will need to indicate the Alternative Title, found by clicking on the 'i' (information) icon on the photo image.
To place an order, review and sign the Permission Request Form for Use of Images, and fill out the order form (both forms are in the same document file).
For any questions about selecting and/or ordering photographs, please contact us at email@example.com.
