Fry-Bread


Get Ready, Get Set...

You need ...

- a large mixing bowl

- a spoon, knife, and spatula

- a cutting board sprinkled with flour

-electric frying pan or deep fryer

- paper towels

- candy thermometer

Ingredients

2 cups flour

3 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. salt

1 cup milk

vegetable oil (at least 2 inches in bottom of pan or fryer)

...Go!

Directions

Combine flour, baking powder and salt in bowl.

Pour milk into the middle of the mixture.

Stir until moistened. Pour onto the floured cutting board.

Pat into 1/2-inch-thick square dough.

With knife, cut into 2-inch squares.

Make a slit in the center of each square.

Fry squares in hot oil (375 degrees) about four minutes on each side, until pastry turns brown. Drain on paper towel. Serve warm with sugar or honey.
