School-Age Time Travelers
programs, held on Wednesdays, are designed for children ages 6 to
12 Time Travelers check-in: Children ages 6-12 should arrive at
the museum 10 minutes before the start of each program to sign in.
Parents are welcome to stay and join in the fun! Those who are not
able to stay must return promptly at 11:30 to pick up their child/children.
Pre-School Museum
Explorers programs, held on Thursdays, are designed for children
ages 3 to 5. Parents should stay and participate in pre-school programs.

museum neighborhood apple orchard and farmyard garden - Learn about
"The Three Sisters" and plant sunflower seeds - Make fruit
and vegetable prints with paint - Eat dirt cake

School-Age Time Travelers: Norwegian - Explore the Lars and
Greta Anderson Family 's Log Home - Learn about the art of rosemaling
- Participate in a Norwegian language lesson - Taste lefse and pickled
herring

Preschool Museum Explorers: The Ways We Travel - Tour the exhibit
galleries to see how people traveled in the past - Look at historic
canoes, classic cars, and an antique tractor, bike, and airplane
- Create a wheel collage art project - Construct your own trail

July
Friday,
4: Fourth of July Family Fair From cake
walks to hot jazz to bubble gum blowing, the Chippewa Valley Museum
will be fun central this Fourth of July. CVM will hold its 16th
annual Independence Day celebration on Friday, July 4, with events
from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to the museum is free. Visitors
may also purchase hot dogs, brats, soda, and nachos from the Mega
Grill or sample an ice cream treat from the museum's fab fifties
ice cream parlor.

School-Age Time Travelers: German - Visit the Historic Schlegelmilch
House - Sing a German song - Hear the legend of the Silver Pinecone
- Bake and eat pretzels

Preschool Museum Explorers: Let's Get Cooking - Explore kitchens
from the 1860s, 1920s, and 1950s - Visit a museum neighborhood backyard
barbeque - Try out antique kitchen tools and make Play Doh cookies
· Cook and eat a Jello treat
Wednesday, 16:
School-Age Time Travelers: Irish - Listen to a live harp
concert! - Watch a spinning demonstration, and learn how to use
a drop spindle - Complete a Celtic Knot craft project - Enjoy soda
bread and lemon curd

Preschool Museum Explorers: Teddy Bear's Picnic - Meet at the Historic
Schlegelmilch House, 517 S. Farwell Street - Bring your favorite
Teddy Bear or stuffed animal - Make a puppet and play with toys
and games from the past - Picnic with your Teddy Bear or stuffed
animal

School-Age Time Travelers: Polish - Create a Wycinanki (paper
cutting) ornament - Learn about Polish history and language - Enjoy
some popular folktales and other stories - Sample Pierogi (dumplings)

Preschool Museum Explorers: All Around Town - Visit My Town to see
City Hall, a bungalow house, and a tire factory - Learn about community
helpers - Shop at the five-and-dime store and work on an assembly
line - Go to the movies and have popcorn

School-Age Time Travelers: Hmong - Learn about the Hmong
New Year - Play the ball toss game - Create a paj ntaub (textile
art) design - Eat sticky rice with garlic sauce
Thursday, 31:
Preschool Museum Explorers: Field Days - Explore the museum farm
to find out how families raised food for their farm animals - Operate
a corn planter and try out other antique farm tools - Take part
in an old-fashioned husking bee - Make a seed mosaic art project
and eat oatmeal cookies
