Celebrate International Museums Day

Posted: March 2, 2015

Celebrate International Museum Day at the Chippewa Valley Museum (CVM) on Sunday, May 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Visitors to CVM can test their powers of observation with an exhibit scavenger hunt, and enjoy a Buy One Adult Admission Get One Admission Half Off admission special.

The International Council of Museums (ICOM) established International Museum Day in 1977 to increase public awareness of the role of museums in the development of society, and it has been steadily gaining momentum ever since. In 2014, International Museum Day garnered record‐breaking participation with more than 35,000 museums hosting events in some 145 countries.

"We're excited to celebrate the value of museums on International Museum Day again this year," said Chippewa Valley Museum's director Julie Bunke. "As a regional history museum, CVM fosters a sense of community by connecting residents and visitors to our region's past, all in a fun, hands-on environment!"

CVM visitors can explore award-winning exhibits, take in the multimedia object theater, become historians in the hands-on history gallery designed for kids of all ages, and enjoy an old-fashioned ice cream soda in the vintage ice cream parlor.

The Chippewa Valley Museum is located in Eau Claire's scenic Carson Park. Regular admission is $7 for adults and $4 for kids ages 5-17; kids under 5 and museum members are always free.
