Learn new creative skills and make unique projects with local artist instructors at the Chippewa Valley Museum in Eau Claire's scenic Carson Park this November! Tribal Arts Classes
Tuesday, November 1 & Tuesday, November 22, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Learn about Ojibwe culture and traditions with artist and Lac Courte Oreilles member Dick Mindykowski. These free sessions include information on trapping and tanning techniques, as well as the methods used to hand-harvest the wood and other natural materials. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase artwork or customize a walking stick project. Walking stick projects are $15 per small (4 feet and under) or $25 per large (over 4 feet) and include all materials. Advance reservation required.

Ojibwe Beaver Shield Workshop
Saturday, November 12, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Repeat session January 14, 2017)
Create a personalized beaver shield and explore Ojibwe culture and traditions with artist and Lac Courte Oreilles tribal member Dick Mindykowski. Dick will share information on trapping and tanning techniques, as well as the methods used to hand-harvest the wood and other natural materials. The circular beaver shield represents the Great Circle of Life, marking the four winds, the four seasons, and the four stages of life. Attendees may choose either a beaver or bison shield. Advance registration required. All materials provided. Open to ages 13 and older, or 12 and under with adult supervision. Families welcome. $55 per project for museum members, $60 for non-members.

Holiday Family Painting Party
Sunday, November 13, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Join guest instructor Cyndi Kortbein from the Paint Shack for a fun painting party for families. Follow step-by-step instructions to create festive ornament paintings on 11x14" or 12x12" canvases, just in time for gift-giving. Advance registration required. All materials provided, including tasty seasonal treats. No experience needed. Open to kids ages 3-17 with an adult. $15 per person for CVM members, $20 for non-members.
