"A Dance Hall Revival" Fundraiser April 1

Posted: March 2, 2017

Celebrate the best of the Chippewa Valley's dance hall era at "A Dance Hall Revival," the Chippewa Valley Museum's 7th Annual Heritage in the Valley Celebration & Fundraiser, taking place on Saturday, April 1, from 5:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at The Florian Gardens in Eau Claire. Music of the 1950's, 60's, and 70's by The Thundermen, a dinner buffet, and a silent auction and raffles will keep the night rolling.

Many long-time Chippewa Valley residents remember when Fournier's Ballroom was "THE place to go," and while it was the most well known until it closed in 1971, it was not the only legendary dance floor in the valley. Young adults used to escape city limits to The London Inn and The Barr just outside of Eau Claire, or head for Dunn County to Pine Point Lodge. In fact, one can still hit the dance floor at The Pines Ballroom in Bloomer!

Only heard the legends of the dance hall era in the Chippewa Valley? That's okay, because "A Dance Hall Revival" is for everyone, whether you're looking for a fun-filled evening of Saturday night excess, or just want to casually get re-acquainted with an old pair of dancing shoes. The Florian Gardens at 2340 Lorch Avenue on Eau Claire's south side will be "THE place to go" for a memorable night.

Reserve Dinner & Dance tickets for $40 a person (reserve by March 28), or Dance Only tickets for $20 (Dance Only tickets will be available at the door while supplies last). Each ticket is $15 tax deductible. Dinner buffet runs 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., and The Thundermen play from 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Cash bar. The buffet menu for the dinner buffet includes grilled hamburgers, grilled chicken breast, assorted buns, calico beans, Jo-Jo's or steak fries, fresh vegetable display and dip. Ask regarding dietary requests or restrictions.

Call the museum at 715-834-7871 or email info@cvmuseum.com for reservations. People's Bank in Eau Claire, at 2720 Golf Road, will also take ticket orders in person. Reservations can be made through the mail by printing, completing and mailing this Reservation Form

Sponsorship opportunities are available for "A Dance Hall Revival" at the Silver ($300), Gold ($500), and Diamond ($1,000) levels. William's Diamond Center is an early Gold level sponsor, and Banbury Place and Charter Bank early Silver sponsors. Proceeds from the celebration support the Museum's summer and school year educational programs, which serve almost 4,000 students a year.
