all ages (age 13 through 90) volunteered more than 10,000 hours
last year.
The museum relies
on volunteers in these important areas:
Visitor
Services
Front Desk, Museum Store, Ice Cream Parlor, and staffing
historic buildings
Public programming
helping with events and programs for adults and children
Marketing
everything from putting together mailings to designing surveys to
web mastery
Design several
tasks, from scanning photographs to building exhibits
Curatorial
cleaning and categorizing artifacts, database work
Library original
research cataloguing items, cross-referencing, database work
Education
Specially trained volunteers who teach at the museum are called

Training is
provided, and shifts are flexible and mainly short.
Our Thursday
Circle crafting group makes and sells craft and clothing
items. Last year, their efforts netted $3,000 for the benefit of
museum programming.
We also have
a group of Shop Guys who work
on carpentry, painting, metalworking and other tasks. They're always
looking for fun-loving folks to join the group.
Last year, 26
teenagers contracted with the museum as Teen
Guides during the summer months. Collectively, they worked
at least 567 hours staffing the School House and Log House as well
as providing support for design, education and programming. Learn

The museum hosts
its annual Fourth of July Family Fair with the help of 90-some volunteers.
Last year, the volunteer efforts (along with perfect weather) assured
a good time for 2,840 Family Fair guests.
